Multimedia + Graphic Designer - Marketing
About the role
Gensler New York is looking for a designer who works in motion as fluently as in layout. This role is for someone who wants their work to matter in the pitches that win landmark projects and the ideas we put in front of the people building this city. You'll be a partner to marketing, office leadership, project teams, and practice area leaders, turning strategy, research, and burgeoning ideas into a compelling graphic narrative. No two weeks look the same: an infographic that makes complex data land instantly, a template built from a two-sentence brief, a motion graphic that wins over an aviation client one month and a hospitality client the next. You'll be an integral part of the New York marketing and communications team and trade ideas with a global community of designers.
Responsibilities
- Let your creativity lead, designing bespoke content across print, digital, motion graphics, and video, from presentations, proposals and portfolios to award submissions, event graphics, and one-off communication pieces
- Build the templates and systems that carry that work across the office
- Turn complex information into clear infographics and layouts that command the reader's attention
- Act as the office's expert advisor on all things graphic design, mastering new tools and technology and sharing them across the region
- Deliver production-ready files on competing deadlines
Requirements
- 4–6 years of design experience, in-house or agency; architecture, design, or commercial real estate industry experience a plus
- A portfolio showing range across formats and problem types, not one polished campaign
- Command of typography, hierarchy, grid, and layout
- Expert-level Adobe Creative Cloud, especially InDesign, with demonstrable work in Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere; hand illustration skills are a bonus
- Experience with videography, video editing, and visual storytelling for digital marketing, social media, or corporate communications
- Experience across print production and digital delivery, including video, animation, and web graphics
- A real passion for design. You take inspiration from everywhere, look for new ways into old problems, and love making something out of nothing
- A collaborative instinct: takes direction well, gives feedback in return, and pitches in when someone else is underwater
- Clear communication and composure under multiple deadlines
A portfolio (PDF or website) is required for consideration.
