Multilingual Learner Teacher Assistant (Russian / Ukrainian)

Applications are invited for the position of Teacher Assistant in the Multilingual Learners Department at Maine East High School.

Reports to: Assistant Director for Curriculum and Instruction - Multilingual Learners

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students and staff to provide individualized support for student success
• Set up and provide instruction with strong classroom management skills
• Make long-lasting personal connections with academically struggling students
• Continuously monitor student progress in academic courses and initiate regular communication with teachers and parents
• Assess student progress, communicate expectations, and provide overall academic case management
• Support classroom learning by re-teaching concepts or connecting students to other interventions
• Demonstrate reflectiveness and make adjustments that benefit students
• Communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents, and administration

Requirements

• Must meet requirements for Illinois State Board of Education Paraprofessional Approval
• Russian / Ukrainian language required
• Highly organized with an ability to set up and provide instruction
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and teacher certification preferred
• Preferred classroom experience

Schedule

• 10-month position (August through May 26, 2027)
• Total number of paid days: 185
• Daily hours: 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
• Weekly hours: 37.5
• Total paid hours: 1,375

Pay

• Hourly rate: $23.38 - $27.92 per hour, based on teacher assistant experience
• Additional hourly differentials:
  • Associate/equivalent degree: $0.50 per hour
  • Bachelor's degree: $0.80 per hour
  • Master's degree: $1.00 per hour
  • Current IL teacher's license: $1.05 per hour
