About the role

Notre Dame School of Milwaukee is a Catholic School founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Milwaukee, WI. The school was founded in 1996 as Notre Dame Middle School, an all-girls 5th–8th grade middle school to serve Latinas on the southside of Milwaukee. Today Notre Dame School of Milwaukee is a Grade K3–8 Catholic school sponsored by the School Sisters of Notre Dame. It has a co-educational primary school serving boys and girls in a Spanish and English dual language model. Notre Dame School of Milwaukee addresses the urgent, critical needs of the community through student-focused education. The school currently serves over 690 students across three campuses and has both an all-boys and all-girls middle school, a co-ed primary school, and an Early Childhood Education program. Qualifications

  • Wisconsin State Certification as an English as a Second Language Teacher (395)
  • Current Wisconsin Teacher’s License
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers and support students with English language skills for non-native speakers, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening
  • Coordinate and conduct ACCESS testing for students
  • Serve as temporary main contact with Milwaukee Public Schools relating to Emergent Bilingual and ACCESS coordination
  • Cultivate an atmosphere conducive to learning
  • Commitment to Catholic Education and Gospel values
  • Organize and prepare resources for students and teachers
  • Supervise areas as assigned
  • Communicate professionally and in a timely manner with teachers, parents, and students
  • Complete all required forms and reports
  • Maintain accurate records of student information
  • Actively engage in professional development
  • Participate and meet the requirements of Sustaining the Mission and maintain the appropriate level of certification
  • Attend all faculty and in-service meetings, and other meetings as needed
  • Meet professional teacher education requirements of school district and state
  • Demonstrate ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
  • Show knowledge and experience with cultural sensitivity and awareness
  • Ability to be flexible, resilient, and adaptable to changing priorities, with a willingness to put students first at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned
