About the role
The Multifamily Closer job class at Minnesota Housing Finance Agency is responsible for closing multifamily affordable housing loans and performing loan servicing activities. This role works closely with developers who have received awards of funds from Minnesota Housing for acquiring, rehabbing, or constructing multifamily rental properties.
Responsibilities
- Determines appropriate legal documents for each individual transaction.
- Addresses inquiries from borrowers, attorneys, lenders, and title insurance companies regarding legal policies and concerns of the Agency.
- Effectively resolves complex financial and program concerns to satisfaction.
- Drafts legal documents and modifies them to reflect terms and conditions of project transactions; determines legal deficiencies in loan documents.
- Collaborates with external customers and internal staff to coordinate closing events for successful and efficient completion of transactions.
- Reviews and provides comments and resolutions on Agency-required closing due diligence documentation (e.g., surveys, title insurance, organizational documents, and zoning requirements).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Two (2) years of demonstrated experience in closing multifamily affordable housing loans or as a real estate paralegal (including foreclosure, loan servicing or other real estate related paralegal experience).
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Paralegal, Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Public Policy/Urban planning or Community Development/Planning may substitute for 12 months of experience – or – an Associate’s degree in the listed fields may substitute for 6 months of experience.
- Three (3) years of demonstrated experience in closing multifamily affordable housing loans or as a real estate paralegal (including foreclosure, loan servicing or other real estate related paralegal experience) is preferred.
- Paralegal Certificate/degree is preferred.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of multifamily financing structures and funding sources (such as governmental or bank financing, bond financing and Low-Income Housing Tax Credits).
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills with a motivation to maintain customer satisfaction and contribute to the success of Minnesota Housing Finance Agency.

$28.75 - $42.16 / hourly - $60,030 - $88,030 / Yearly
