Amentum is seeking a high-level Multi-Skilled Technician V to join our industrial maintenance team in Lafayette, IN.
Schedule
- Typical work schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:30 am to 3 pm
- Hours may vary based on business demand
- Overtime may be required, including holidays and weekends
Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert in troubleshooting, servicing, and documenting electrical, assembly, and calibration tools
- Oversee, manage, and perform regularly scheduled and non-scheduled technical calibrations, preventive maintenance (PM), and break/fix services for site-specific tools to support production needs
- Support facilities maintenance, including troubleshooting facility and process equipment in an industrial environment
- Maintain, improve, and participate in a calibration program meeting OEM tooling requirements and regulatory needs
- Identify critical spares inventory to meet site-specific tooling requirements
- Utilize and maintain specialty tools and technical software for production-related equipment
- Work with controls and instrumentation (e.g., thermocouples, transducers) and primary voltages up to 480v
- Provide instruction, mentor, and train less-skilled technicians
- Communicate effectively with site management and customers to solve complex problems
- Identify and correct safety-related issues; perform independent equipment evaluations to prevent failures
- Perform general maintenance of equipment and facilities as required
- Maintain, improve, and develop control systems, including programming ladder logic/PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc, GE, MicroLogix, ControlLogix, PLC-5) and HMI
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair process/production machines and related electrical equipment (24v–480v AC, electro-mechanical test devices, instrumentation, PLCs, variable frequency drives)
- Calibrate instrumentation equipment and controls for optimal performance
- Procure parts from crib systems, OEMs, or authorized vendors; identify and document cost savings
- Create and modify site operations procedures; recommend facilities reliability improvements
- Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Respond to work orders, ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards
- Recommend activities to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance
- Analyze and resolve work problems; assist workers in solving issues
- Enforce company policies and safety regulations, including job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout, and PPE use
- Operate measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments for energy efficiency solutions
- Use hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware
- Maintain a strict schedule while demonstrating flexibility for customer needs
- Exhibit strong leadership skills (motivation, delegation, ownership, communication)
- Promote and adhere to Amentum’s Safety Structure
- Assist with Root Cause Analysis
- Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 5 years of experience performing mechanical maintenance and repair on production equipment in an industrial environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience troubleshooting machine tools and complex mechanical systems
- Experience troubleshooting robotic control systems (e.g., Fanuc, ABB)
- Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher
- U.S. citizenship
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Technology, Industrial Mechanical, or related field
- Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial production systems (e.g., conveyors, Harpoon systems, coolant systems) to OEM specifications
- Experience with alignments and timing machines using precision calibration tools
- Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing pumps, motors, gearboxes, supply/exhaust fans, power transmission components, hydraulic/pneumatic systems
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing cranes and hoists
- Experience using measurement tools (e.g., micrometers, dial indicators, gauges, calipers) to set tolerances to OEM specifications
Pay
$35 per hour. The compensation range or hourly rate listed is a good-faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
