Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical bias)

Job Summary

The role involves covering holidays within the maintenance department and working shifts as needed. Average weekly hours are 39, consisting of 3 twelve-hour shifts for 3 weeks and 4 twelve-hour shifts for one week, including a 30-minute paid break.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure plant operates efficiently with minimal downtime
  • Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly planned preventative maintenance tasks
  • Prevent breakdowns and production stoppages through proactive maintenance activities
  • Provide first-line repair and maintenance support for all site facilities and equipment
  • Complete scheduled maintenance tasks while prioritizing production breakdowns and urgent repairs
  • Work closely with fellow engineers to maintain plant reliability and operational performance
  • Contribute new ideas and improved working practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Maintain accurate records and support a structured report-based handover process between shifts
  • Participate in new engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support in-house manufacture of components using the machine shop facilities
  • Utilise and develop skills in milling, turning, and 3D printing
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of engineering solutions and manufacturing capabilities across the site

Requirements

  • Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineering with 70/30 electrical bias
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience of working in engineering and in a fast-paced manufacturing/production environment
  • HNC/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in mechanical/electrical engineering
  • 17th/18th edition qualified
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics knowledge
  • Knowledge of providing both reactive & preventative maintenance (PPM’s)
  • Strong fault-finding ability across both electrical & mechanical breakdowns
  • Positive attitude with ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication
  • Effective time management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • A sound working knowledge of Health and Safety compliance is essential
  • Print Industry Experience & Knowledge of working with Man Roland Web Presses, Komori Sheet fed presses and Muller Martini Bindery Equipment (advantageous)
