Multi-Skilled Journalist

About the role

KPIX-TV is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Journalist (MSJ) to join their team. The ideal candidate will bring creative storytelling skills, an energetic delivery, and a passion for community storytelling.

Responsibilities

• Develop and write news content for on-air daily newscasts.
• Pitch and produce stories reflective of the community.
• Establish and maintain relationships with community sources.
• Create content for Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platforms.
• Work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license required.
• SAG-AFTRA union membership required.
• Ability to shoot and edit broadcast quality video for television newscasts and digital platforms.
• Strong social media skills and ability to contribute on all platforms.
• Flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Team player with the ability to work under deadlines and multitask.
• College degree in Journalism/Communications/Broadcasting preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 4 years MSJ/television reporting experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to work independently with accuracy and problem solve quickly.
• Knowledge of Broadcast ENG camera, lighting, audio, and Live U.

Benefits

The hiring salary range for this position is $125,000.00 - 140,000.00. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program, and paid time off.
