About the Role

The Multi-Purpose Clerk is an integral part of a motivated team focused on delivering an exceptional guest experience. This role may be assigned to various departments, including Center Store Market, Fresh Market Departments, or Guest Services. Responsibilities include promoting sales, assisting guests, handling special orders, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. The Clerk also receives, inspects, logs, stocks, rotates, and merchandises products to ensure freshness and department appeal.

Responsibilities

The Multi-Purpose Clerk may be assigned to any of the following departments and duties:

• Center Store/Front End: Operate check stands, memorize PLU codes, order/receive/unload/stock/rotate product, merchandise, and perform POS and inventory activities.
• Produce: Receive, inspect, and log products; trim, wash, and wrap produce; stock, rotate, and merchandise product; maintain floral areas; clean department areas and equipment.
• Meat/Seafood: Receive, inspect, and log products; weigh, wrap, package, and label products; stock, rotate, and merchandise product; provide guest service at the seafood counter; take special orders; operate slicers and wrappers; clean department areas and equipment.
• Bakery/Deli: Receive, inspect, and log products; prepare, weigh, package, and label products; stock, rotate, and merchandise baked goods and deli products; take special orders; operate ovens, proofers, slicers, and mixers; clean department areas and equipment.
• Janitorial: Maintain store cleanliness and sanitation; sweep/mop floors, clean restrooms, break rooms, offices, shelving, cases, equipment, shopping carts, and vending machines; clean front of store and parking lot; empty trash; operate janitorial equipment.
• Valley Fresh: Receive, inspect, and log products; cut, trim, wash, juice, and package produce; stock, rotate, and merchandise product; clean department areas and equipment.
• Restaurant: Operate the register, take guest orders, service completed orders, and maintain cleanliness and sanitation.

Additional duties for all assignments include:

• Sweep and mop sales floor, front end, back rooms, and refrigerated areas.
• Operate forklift or baler if authorized and certified.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) or additional job experience.
• Six months of grocery retail-related experience.
• Excellent guest service and communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Ability to work with a sense of urgency, self-motivation, and flexibility.
• Must be available to work a variety of required retail hours.

Physical Demands

• Requires standing and other physical movements on a frequent basis.
• Requires lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance.

Pay

Hiring pay range: $17.15 - $27.00 per hour.
