Responsibilities

  • Obtains patient history.
  • Educates patients/families regarding procedures and/or treatment to be performed as well as risk factors and prevention.
  • Positions patients appropriately for the applicable radiographic procedure.
  • Performs radiographic procedures and analysis according to departmental guidelines.
  • Develops and evaluates radiographic results for technical quality, such as density, contrast, definition and distortion.
  • Applies learned methodologies with independent judgment according to established policies and procedures.
  • Prepares, cleans, adjusts, inspects and maintains equipment.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate documentation, archiving imaging data as needed or required.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other medical professionals.

Requirements

  • CT: Operate head or body scanners to create a computer generated cross-sectional image of a patient's internal organs and tissues for diagnosis of medical issues.
  • Mammography: Prepares patient and equipment for mammography procedure. Positions patient throughout the procedures, adjusting immobilization devices for proper compression. Performs radiologic mammography exams, including screenings and diagnostic studies, and analysis.
  • MRI: Operates a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images used for diagnosis and treatment of patient pathologies. Uses knowledge of imaging techniques and cross-sectional anatomy to create high quality scans.
  • Nuclear Medicine: Performs nuclear medicine procedures, demonstrates competence in performing invasive/interventional procedures. Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals for use in both diagnostic studies and therapeutic treatments. Operates imaging equipment and technology to track and record radiation with the patient's body, and prepares image reports.
  • Ultrasound: Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological and anatomic data. Operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associates of Applied Science or other Related Fields (or) accredited MRI program (or) Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved Nuclear Medicine Technology Program (or) Graduate of an accredited School of Ultrasonography - Required
  • Certification & Licensures: Fingerprint Clearance Card application number- Required upon hire Fingerprint Clearance Card- Required within 90 days of hire BLS (American Heart Assoc.)- Required
  • Experience: Minimum 1 Year Experience As Imaging Technologist - Required Experience in an acute care setting - Preferred
