About the role

The Estimator position is responsible for preparing accurate budgets, estimates, and proposals for flooring, tile, and countertop scopes of work. The role consists of quantifying, pricing, and proposal development through reviewing plans and specifications, completing takeoffs, and generating estimates that align with Company margin and pricing strategies. The role also includes project pre-construction preparation, such as Submittals & Layouts, Schedules of Values, and Change Order Requests.

Responsibilities

  • Review architectural plans, specifications, and builder requirements to determine scope of work
  • Perform accurate material takeoffs and quantity calculations for flooring, tile, and countertops
  • Utilize Measure Square to complete digital takeoffs and measurements
  • Prepare detailed estimates including material, labor, waste, with supporting documentation
  • Assist in creation of bid packages, proposals, and pricing summaries for submission
  • Create and maintain supporting quotes, drawings, and layouts as needed (e.g., flooring layouts, countertop layouts)
  • Apply waste utilization and efficiency techniques when appropriate to improve profitability
  • Follow established estimating procedures, templates, and file structures
  • Communicate with internal teams to clarify scope, specifications, and pricing assumptions
  • Support the Project Manager(s) and Sales with revisions, value engineering, and bid updates as needed
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, plans, and supporting documentation
  • Create, track, and revise Submittal Packages
  • Prepare project pre-construction information
  • Prepare budgets for purchasing and operations teams through ERP systems

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • 5 years of experience in the General Construction or Multi-Family and interior finish industry (preferred not required)
  • Ability to read and understand architectural plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of flooring, tile, and countertops field operations and installation (preferred not required)
  • Knowledge of countertop template layouts, field operations, and installation (preferred not required)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office platforms
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (formulas and creating template knowledge preferred)
  • Experience using ‘take-off’ software (Preferably Measure Square)
  • CAD experience (preferred not required)
  • Experience creating flooring and countertop layouts
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates, tasks, and deadlines concurrently
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Organized, self-motivated, and process-oriented
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent Time/Task Management
  • Experience with Access Databases
