About the role

The Livonia Public Schools is seeking a passionate and student-centered special education teacher to work in a multiage resource program. The ideal candidate fosters a positive, respectful classroom culture where every student feels known, valued, and challenged to grow.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain academic-focused instruction for students eligible for special education services
  • Identify and implement best practices in instruction and student achievement
  • Use a wide knowledge of intervention and classroom management techniques
  • Effectively use a variety of teaching methods and materials applicable to students with disabilities

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in the area of special education
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with endorsement in a special education area
  • Passionate commitment to improving learning for all students
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and teamwork skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use student data to inform instruction, monitor progress, and provide intervention/enrichment
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in the area of special education
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with endorsement in a special education area
  • Applicants who are able to be temporarily approved will be considered if enrolled in a university training program and demonstrates commitment to securing full certification as soon as possible
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and teamwork skills
