MuleSoft Technical Architect

Perficient is seeking a MuleSoft Architect to provide architectural leadership for enterprise integration and API-led connectivity initiatives across Salesforce, cloud platforms, and critical business applications. In this role, you will define, validate, and govern integration architecture standards, API strategies, security frameworks, and connectivity patterns while ensuring a scalable, secure, and high-performing integration ecosystem. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, API-led architecture, integration governance, OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect, and enterprise integration best practices. Candidates located near a Perficient office are preferred.

Responsibilities
- Own and drive the technology architecture for MuleSoft and enterprise integration solutions.
- Define integration strategies, architecture roadmaps, and API-led connectivity frameworks across external enterprise systems.
- Partner with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Design and oversee implementation of reusable APIs, integrations, event-driven architectures, and data exchange patterns.
- Lead architecture reviews, proof-of-concept initiatives, and technical discovery engagements.
- Support Agile teams through solution design, estimation, backlog refinement, and continuous delivery practices.
- Architect secure integrations between Data Cloud, ERP, customer platforms, data warehouses, and cloud applications.
- Collaborate with global delivery teams and client stakeholders to manage technical dependencies, risks, and integration challenges.
- Establish integration standards, governance, observability, monitoring, and operational excellence practices.
- Mentor developers, integration engineers, and solution architects on best practices and emerging technologies.
- Leverage AI-powered development, observability, and automation tools to accelerate delivery and improve solution quality.
Requirements
- 8+ years of enterprise application architecture and integration experience, including 7+ years designing and delivering MuleSoft solutions.
- Deep expertise with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, including Anypoint Platform, Flex Gateway, API Manager, Runtime Fabric, CloudHub 2.0, Exchange, Monitoring, and Governance.
- Extensive experience implementing API-led connectivity and modern integration architecture patterns.
- Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, OpenAPI specifications, AsyncAPI, event-driven architecture, and microservices.
- Experience integrating Salesforce with ERP, CRM, data warehouse, customer data platforms, and cloud ecosystems such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Advanced experience with DataWeave, API design, orchestration, transformation, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Experience implementing event-driven solutions using technologies such as Salesforce Platform Events, MuleSoft MQ, Kafka, Azure Service Bus, or AWS EventBridge.
- Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT, Zero Trust security principles, API security, and identity federation.
- Experience deploying and managing integrations across CloudHub 2.0, Runtime Fabric, containerized environments, and hybrid architectures.
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Maven, and automated testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Anypoint Monitoring, Splunk, Datadog, Dynatrace, or New Relic.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce Data Cloud, data integration, data governance, and master data management concepts.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and client-facing consulting skills.
- MuleSoft and Salesforce certifications preferred, including MuleSoft Integration Architect, MuleSoft Platform Architect, Salesforce Application Architect, or Salesforce System Architect certifications.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $195,000. This range takes into consideration factors such as skill sets, level of experience, applicable office location, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range, and compensation decisions depend on the unique facts and circumstances regarding each candidate. The range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or potential equity or variable bonus programs.
