What You’ll Do

  • Type, utilizing a computer keyboard, with computer competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Access and Outlook).
  • Maintain moderately complex databases in order to provide service and accurate information for management.
  • Review documents and reports to ensure work product meets established standards.
  • Aid staff with completing forms in order to provide service.
  • Complete expense and/or other financial forms in order to process reimbursement or payment request.
  • File and copy correspondence and other records maintaining an organized filing system.
  • Answer telephone, take messages and route calls efficiently.
  • Greet and welcome visitors, determine nature of business and conduct visitors to appropriate person.
  • Order and inventory supplies.
  • Accurately complete required reports on or before established deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of parent, student and staff personally identifiable information.
  • Participate in staff development activities as necessary to keep secretarial skills updated.
  • Maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification as specified by MSSD.
  • Utilize each student’s individual communication system.

What You Need

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Supplemental secretarial practice, bookkeeping and computer application courses preferred.

About the Role

The Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled is seeking a School Office Assistant to support the administrative functions within the department. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
