MSPC Team Leader 1st Shift - BMW

About the role

Jefferson Southern Corporation, or JSC, is a Tier One automotive supplier. This means that we produce and sell parts that are ready to be installed in automobiles. Our parts are stamped out of steel and then welded. We produce several parts that are part of the “white body” or interior shell of the car. These parts are not very visible after the vehicle is completed, but they are vital to the strength, safety and performance of the car.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all associates are trained on work instructions and assigned tasks accordingly.
• Ensure no weld downtime.
• Communicate part shortages with production control and stamping.
• Avoid delays by ensuring associates work in an effective and efficient manner.
• Able to perform all associate duties as needed.
• Address all safety issues/violations accordingly.
• Respond quickly and effectively when problems arise, seek guidance from Coordinator or Manager when needed.
• Ensure all associates follow FIFO.
• Oversee delivery/put away as necessary during sort/containment activities.
• Ensure 5S duties are completed by all associated daily.
• Follow all policy and procedures.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous experience in operating forklifts in a manufacturing environment highly desired.
• Prior knowledge of production processes preferred.
• Must be a full-time associate with a minimum of 6 months service with JSC.
• Must not have received a voluntary transfer within the past 6 months unless the position is considered to be a promotion.
• Must not have received 2nd step counseling in the past 6 months.
• Must not have been on probation under the standards of conduct and attendance within the preceding 12 months.

Qualifications

• Environmental & Physical Demands: Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp objects, and constant loud noise. Requires use of hands to touch and handle objects; hear; talk; and see, including close vision; stand for long hours, stoop; kneel; sit; climb; balance; and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.

Skills

• Ability to operate forklifts in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of production processes.
