MSCC Peer Tutor (General Pool)

General Function

Tutors work with Disability Services, Writing Centers, Math Labs, and as imbedded peer tutors in certain courses. Tutors are needed for all campuses in a variety of subjects.

Minimum Qualifications

• A student with the ability to communicate and work well with others.
• Demonstrate knowledge level by attaching an unofficial copy of transcripts to his/her/their application.
• Grades of B or higher are often required in specific courses to be hired as a paid tutor.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous tutoring experience is a plus.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

• One-on-one tutoring
• Group tutoring
• Completing necessary training
• Editing papers
• Taking notes
• Maintaining digital tutoring schedule
• Filling out forms
• Helping others navigate technology to complete assignments
• Reading exam questions to students
• Providing constructive feedback
• Maintaining student confidentiality

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
