MSAD Special Teacher-Language Arts

About the role

The Minnesota State Academies (MSAD) is seeking a Special Teacher-Language Arts to contribute to the design and delivery of academic instructional programs for deaf/hard of hearing or deaf/blind students. The position requires American Sign Language (ASL) skills and follows the school calendar with 3 weeks in July for the summer school program.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the design and delivery of academic instructional programs for deaf/hard of hearing or deaf/blind students.
• Provides educational instruction and uses a variety of techniques to encourage appropriate behaviors.
• Works closely with other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Assesses student progress and adjusts teaching methods accordingly.
• Collaborates with families to ensure effective communication and support.

Requirements

• Valid Deaf/hard of hearing (DHH) Minnesota Teacher license or ability to obtain one prior to the start date.
• Knowledge of curriculum, language acquisition, and educational best practices relevant to deaf/hard of hearing students and/or deaf/blind students.
• Experience working with deaf/hard of hearing students.
• Advanced sign skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
• Master’s degree in Education or related field preferred.
• At least 3 years of teaching experience in a K-12 setting.
• Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay

$30.48 - $55.14 / hourly
