Our client is seeking a hands-on MRO Buyer to support day-to-day purchasing needs within a manufacturing facility in the Greenville, South Carolina area.
Responsibilities
- Purchase indirect materials, equipment, spare parts, plant supplies, and services used to support manufacturing operations.
- Work with established suppliers while identifying additional vendor options when needed.
- Request and compare quotes based on cost, availability, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Create, update, and track purchase orders through completion.
- Follow open orders, past-due deliveries, and urgent requests to ensure materials arrive when needed.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels for assigned plant and maintenance items.
- Coordinate with internal departments regarding purchasing needs, delivery updates, and order status.
- Help resolve receiving discrepancies, invoice issues, shipping delays, and supplier-related problems.
- Support vendor stocking programs, blanket orders, service arrangements, and recurring purchases.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and prepare routine reports.
- Manage purchasing-card transactions, including receipt documentation, approvals, reconciliation, and audit support.
- Assist with department projects and additional purchasing activities as needed.
Requirements
- Associate degree in business, supply chain, or a related field with at least one year of purchasing experience, or equivalent direct purchasing experience.
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, materials, or inventory within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with ERP, MRP, or purchasing systems used to create orders and manage inventory.
- Working knowledge of purchase orders, supplier coordination, inventory control, and delivery follow-up.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and general office systems.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Professional communication skills when working with vendors and internal departments.
- Ability to manage frequent interruptions, shifting priorities, and time-sensitive plant requests.
- Willingness to work hands-on with operations, including visiting inventory, maintenance, shipping, or receiving areas as needed.
