MRI Technologist PRN
About the Role
This is a PRN MRI Technologist opportunity offering premium PRN pay, with an additional shift differential for weekend coverage. Schedule options include weekday coverage (Monday or Friday) and weekend coverage (Saturday and/or Sunday), with shifts flexible based on availability and department needs. Location options include Tricom Diagnostic Imaging or West Ashley Diagnostic Imaging, whichever is more convenient for you.
Responsibilities
- Complete scans effectively and efficiently
- Collect pertinent data about the patient and the procedure
- Select the most appropriate, cost-effective action plan after reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patient’s abilities and condition
- Screen the patient for ferrous and RF-sensitive material before the patient enters the magnetic field
- Position and prepare patients for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures
- Select appropriate immobilization devices
- Review the patient’s chart and the physician’s request to determine optimal scanning parameters for the suspected pathology
- Prepare and administer contrast agents in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Enter necessary patient information to initiate the scan(s)
- Assess and monitor the patient’s physical and mental status throughout the procedure
- Review images to determine if additional scans will enhance the diagnostic value of the procedure
- Document diagnostic, treatment, and patient data in the appropriate record, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, conciseness, and completeness
- Archive images to data storage devices according to established guidelines
- Maintain workflow to effectively use time, equipment, and supplies
- Implement and maintain the MedQuest Best Customer Service Program
- Provide accurate explanations and instructions at a level the patient can understand
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure technique
- Exhibit a high level of technical competence and clinical judgment
- Ensure required supplies and equipment are available
- Check equipment routinely and perform preventive maintenance when necessary
- Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues, peers, and all members of the healthcare team
- Maintain a safe environment by monitoring cryogens
- Ensure compliance with MedQuest policies, OSHA, and local, state, and federal regulatory requirements
- Follow radiation protection guidelines
- Participate in formal training and service programs
- Meet deadlines for reports
- Perform quality assurance activities based on established protocols
- Document quality assurance activities and results
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding medical records and other data
- Cross-train for additional modalities within the center
- Complete and retain certification in MRI technology
- Build education files on outstanding or interesting cases
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program
- ARRT registered with advanced registry in MRI
- Must complete required CEUs to maintain active certification
- Active state licensure, where applicable
- CPR Certification required
Prior Experience
- 0+ years of experience as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist, required
- 2+ years of experience as an MRI Technologist, preferred
Special Qualifications
- IV skills required
- Knowledge of MRI procedures and standards
- Demonstrate adequate knowledge of anatomy
- Skill in operation of MRI equipment
- Customer service background and focus
