MRI Technologist - Per Diem

About the role

Provides patient services using imaging modalities as prescribed by a physician. Performs radiographic and other related imaging procedures, producing images for interpretation by a physician. Applies principles of magnetic safety. Evaluates radiographic images for technical quality. Exercises professional judgement in the performance of procedures. Provides patient care essential to radiographic procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic radiographic service
  • Greets customers in a friendly, but professional manner
  • Ensures proper patient identification
  • Operates imaging equipment
  • Operates other equipment/devices as appropriate
  • Positions and immobilizes patient as necessary
  • Selects and/or calculates technical factors
  • Applies principles of magnetic safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others
  • Evaluates radiography for technical quality
  • Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures
  • Practices aseptic technique as necessary
  • Administers or assists with administration of contrast media, as required
  • Initiates basic life support procedures for patients if necessary
  • Ensures proper documentation of exam, technical factors, film usage, quality improvement, etc.
  • Performs quality control checks as required
  • Participates in the "on-call" program
  • Detects, reports to supervision, and contacts repair person for equipment malfunctions
  • Assumes responsibility for portions of department quality assurance and improvement program

Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA-accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT registration in Radiology and MRI certification within 18 months of hire or transfer
  • CPR certification
  • Maintains 12 ECE hours per year or 24 every 2 years as required by ARRT
  • Employee possesses the training, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform one or more of the following activities (evaluation, treatment, and/or patient care) for patients in one or more of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric

Schedule

Shift: 1st & 2nd shift combination. Schedule: 7 am - 7 pm (8-hour shifts within this timeframe). Hours per week: Varied - Per Diem.
