About the Role

Performs MRI imaging procedures, applying technical judgment to obtain studies of diagnostic quality according to written protocols and patient needs. Operates and prepares specialized equipment for magnetic imaging, positions patients and coils, and ensures all MRI images are appropriately labeled and transmitted to PACS in a timely manner. Maintains radiology room and equipment cleanliness, manages supplies, and accurately records patient tracking information in the Radiology Information System (IDX).

Responsibilities

  • Obtain MRI studies of acceptable diagnostic quality using written protocols and patient-specific needs.
  • Operate and prepare MRI equipment, position patients and coils for optimum imaging.
  • Provide patient education regarding imaging procedures, including safety and specific instructions.
  • Review patient safety questionnaires prior to MRI scans.
  • Evaluate images for technical acceptability and ensure timely transmission to PACS.
  • Complete studies in IDX (Radiology Information System) promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness of radiology rooms and equipment, including linen management.
  • Scan and record patient-related documents.
  • Manage supplies and accessories necessary for safe procedure execution.
  • Schedule exams in IDX as required.
  • Report equipment repairs or unsafe conditions to supervisors.
  • Assist physicians directly and call for in-patients as needed.
  • Perform clerical duties in the absence of support personnel.
  • Adhere to safety standards to prevent ferromagnetic material introduction into the scan room.
  • Follow infection control policies and protocols to protect patients and employees.
  • Attend in-services and professional development meetings as required.
  • Maintain licensure, including adherence to Article 35 of the Public Health Code.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T. approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Strong background in cross-sectional anatomy, physical sciences, and MR physics.
  • 2 years of MRI experience (preferred, but open to new graduates).
  • New York State License in Diagnostic Radiology.
  • A.R.R.T. MRI registry.
  • BLS Certified.

Benefits

Eligible for a bonus totaling $10,000 over 2 years, distributed as follows:

  • $1,000 after successful completion of the three-month probationary period.
  • $4,000 after one year of active full-time employment.
  • $5,000 after two years of active full-time employment.

Bonus eligibility applies to full-time CT Techs, PET/CT Techs, MRI Techs, and Breast Sonography Techs (excluding the Dubin Breast Center). Periods on leave, paid or unpaid, do not count toward the bonus duration. Former Mount Sinai Health System employees are ineligible for 12 months post-termination.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $57.729 - $65.2415 per hour, depending on experience, education, and operational need. This range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, or other forms of compensation.
