Responsibilities

  • Operate a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images for use by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of high magnetic field strength safety
  • Prepare and administer contrast media in accordance with hospital policy and procedure as well as state and federal regulations
  • Obtain patient history and screening forms, explain routine procedures, and address patient concerns
  • Maintain patient records and files
  • Perform quality assurance on magnetic resonance scanner, as needed
  • Perform procedures to ensure quality patient care in accordance with Radiologist's expectations and protocols
  • Ensure compliance with the National Patient Safety goals
  • Support and report any identified compliance matters
  • Participate in hospital and department quality assurance programs to ensure safety and satisfaction
  • Use standard precautions, including PPE, at all times
  • Contribute to the efficient operation and monitoring of the department and utilize resources efficiently
  • Maintain professional development and education for technical competency
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and licensure for current position
  • Attend all UofL Health required educational programs and complete all KNOW modules
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
  • Comply with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of MR Radiologic Technology (required)
  • Previous experience in MRI (preferred)
  • Valid Kentucky Radiation Operator's License (strongly preferred)
  • Possess and maintain certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Possess and maintain certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) within 2 years of employment or transferring into position
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days of employment (required)
