MRI TECHNOLOGIST - IMAGING

About the role

Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a team-oriented MRI Technologist to join our Imaging Team. The MRI Technologist performs a variety of specialized tasks involved in the performance of MR scans in compliance with Imaging Department and legal requirements. Responsibilities include performing MR imaging procedures on appropriate anatomical regions according to accepted standards of practice and protocols, ensuring the operation of MR equipment, and maintaining thorough knowledge of MRI physics and principles.

Responsibilities

• Perform MR imaging procedures on appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols.
• Ensure operation of MR equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
• Administer contrast agents under the guidance and approval of the site Radiologist, following site-specific protocols.
• Assist radiologist with interventional MR procedures.
• Gain patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatment, and answering questions.
• Prepare patients for MR procedures by positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, and setting exposure factors.
• Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, following drug protocols, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart.
• Screen all patients, family members, and visitors entering the MRI scanning environment according to screening criteria and safety guidelines.
• Maintain production and quality of MR images by following established standards and procedures.
• Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an approved two-year Radiologic Technology program.
• MR registered, registry eligible, or actively documenting cases performed in order to apply, sit for, and pass registry within 18 months of accepting the position.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated eligibility for employment in the United States.
• Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for personal growth and advancement.
• Demonstrated verbal communication skills in English and access to Language Line for interacting with patients, callers, and coworkers.
