About the role

The MRI Tech II performs advanced MRI procedures, demonstrating expertise beyond MRI Tech I. They adapt to evolving technology, implement new imaging techniques, and ensure safe imaging practices, especially for patients with medical implants such as pacemakers or electronic devices.

Responsibilities

  • Operate MRI scanners and perform complex imaging tasks.
  • Enforce MRI safety protocols, particularly regarding patient implants.
  • Provide compassionate care, assisting patients with claustrophobia and discomfort.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of MRI physics, biological effects, and safety standards.
  • Operate under supervision of Radiologist and MRI Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Certification by ARRT (MRI) or equivalent, with advanced MRI certification preferred.
  • At least two years of MRI experience is preferred.
  • Certified in BLS and compliant with continuing education requirements.
  • Strong understanding of MRI safety, biological effects, and patient care.

Safety & Equipment Knowledge

All staff must be screened for safety regarding medical implants and electronic devices incompatible with MRI’s magnetic field to prevent injury or equipment damage.
