MRI Technologist Full-time Days

About the role
This full-time MRI Technologist position primarily provides imaging services to patients in the Feinberg Pavilion and supports inpatient care operations. The role requires participation in an on-call rotation and reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adhering to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Schedule
40 hours per week consisting of:
- Two (2) 12-hour shifts: 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
- Two (2) 8-hour shifts: 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Every third weekend: 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Responsibilities
- Maintains accountability for patient safety throughout the imaging process, including screening, preparation, monitoring, and post-procedure care.
- Produces diagnostic-quality MRI images using approved protocols and professional standards.
- Applies professional judgment within approved protocols to optimize image quality and address imaging challenges.
- Reviews images prior to exam completion and initiates corrective action when diagnostic adequacy is not met.
- Administers contrast in accordance with policy, including screening for contraindications, IV access, monitoring, and response to adverse events.
- Performs MRI safety screening, including implant and foreign body evaluation, ensuring appropriate clearance prior to magnetic field exposure.
- Enforces controlled access and safe practices within the MRI environment.
- Operates MRI equipment and maintains imaging room readiness; identifies equipment performance issues and initiates follow-up.
- Coordinates exam flow and prioritizes time-sensitive studies.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation in EPIC and Visage, including exam set-up, image routing, result availability, and charging accuracy.
- Adheres to organizational values, ethical standards, certifications, and compliance requirements.
- Ensures a positive patient experience throughout care delivery.
- Supports department initiatives to improve relationships, reliability, efficiency, and growth.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist Program.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or American Registry of MRI Technologist (ARMRIT).
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
