About the Role
The MRI Technician performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures, reviews patient history and physician orders, educates patients, administers contrast media when appropriate, monitors patient condition, and ensures high-quality imaging results. They coordinate MRI exams, document patient information accurately, and troubleshoot imaging issues, ensuring patient safety and care continuity.
Responsibilities
- Perform MRI scans following standards and protocols
- Review and interpret physician orders and patient histories
- Educate patients on procedures and equipment
- Administer contrast media within scope of practice
- Monitor patient condition during procedures and respond to changes
- Prepare equipment, select imaging parameters, and position patients
- Analyze images, identify quality issues, and resolve them
- Document scan results and patient data accurately
- Assist with workflow management and ensure quality care
- Identify MRI compatibility of items and screen patients accordingly
Requirements
- Associate's Degree required
- ARRT certification with at least one year of DMS experience (preferred)
- Certification in Mammography or willingness to obtain within a year
- Current BLS certification
- Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently, and handle stressful situations
