MRI tech (PRN)

About the Role

Performs a variety of technical diagnostic examinations associated with the operation of MRI equipment to produce diagnostic images of any designated portion of the body. Reports directly to the Administrative Director of Radiology and/or Medical Director of Radiology.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic imaging exams as ordered.
• Collects, analyzes, and interprets data within the scope of practice.
• Actively participates in implementation of the Performance Improvement (PI) plan and completes assignments within allowed time constraints.
• Contributes to a non-discriminating, non-hostile environment and practices safety management.
• Respects hospital equipment and property, conducts self calmly during stressful situations, and protects patient information while maintaining confidentiality.

Requirements

• Previous MRI technologist or 2 years of radiological technologist experience preferred.
• Rad Tech license required; ARRT and LSRT licenses preferred.
• CPR certification.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, peers, and medical personnel.
• Ability to compute proper imaging techniques and contrast media administration.
• Emotional stability, resilience, adaptability to change, decisiveness, and foresight.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Required to stay in stationary positions as well as move around; ability to position oneself and/or move equipment is normally required.
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of radiation.
• Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Occasionally required to transport items 20 pounds or more; frequently required to move 1–20 pounds and push or pull 20 or more pounds.
• Continuous use of hands and fingers for positioning equipment.
