Qualifications

  • Graduate of Accredited School of MRI; Associate of Science or higher preferred but not required
  • Four years MRI experience
  • Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served
  • One year of leadership/supervisory or management experience (preferred)

Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:

  • ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT
  • Texas Medical Board License
  • BLS (American Red Cross)
  • ARRT (MR) (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Supervises assigned personnel and is responsible for effectively and efficiently staffing the imaging section(s)
  • Evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions
  • Motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance
  • Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the use of power injectors, MRI positioning, procedures preparation, and technical factors associated with MRI systems
  • Maintains clean, stocked inventory and equipment service records
  • Works with vendors to ensure optimum uptime of equipment in section(s)
  • Schedules preventive maintenance and emergency maintenance without disrupting patient care
  • Ensures efficient workflow in the section by getting patients started on time and keeping room turnaround time to a minimum
  • Organizes work to respond quickly to changes in workload
  • Supervises personnel including interviewing, work allocation, orientation and training, staff development, problem resolution, evaluating performance, and making recommendations for personnel actions
  • Completes assignments independently and works as part of a team
  • Takes instructions from supervisors, exercises problem-solving skills, and interacts professionally with co-workers, supervisors, patients, vendors, and the public
  • May have access to radiopharmaceuticals, contrast agents, and other non-controlled medications as appropriate to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • May physically witness and/or inventory controlled substances with another authorized individual
  • Integrates current scientific knowledge and technology into work practices
  • Plays an active role in the orientation and training of new employees and students
  • Participates in continuing education provided to the department during work hours
  • Completes yearly Job Skills/Competency Checklist
  • Demonstrates support, knowledge, and skill to provide care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Facilitates and participates in Radiology Department CQI monitoring and implements changes accordingly
  • Assists in collection of data, reviewing, and revising the CQI program to comply with accrediting agencies, hospital goals, and departmental Policies and Procedures
  • Maintains current CPR certification in Basic Life Support
  • Improves leadership abilities continuously
  • Establishes relationships with other supervisors throughout MHS to develop a network and mentoring opportunities
  • Develops relationships with other departments within MHS and looks for opportunities for integration or interaction
  • Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System and demonstrates excellent customer service at all times
  • Understands and is committed to helping the Methodist Healthcare System and its associated facilities achieve its goals
  • Learns and complies with System and facility safety policies and rules; uses appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times
  • Immediately reports all unsafe conditions to supervisors
  • Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior
  • Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules, regulations, or the Code of Conduct itself
  • Completes other duties as assigned

Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
