About the role

Under the direction of a radiologist, this MRI Technologist performs diagnostic MRI exams at Thompson Peak Medical Center in Scottsdale, AZ. The role requires independent judgment, responsibility for assigned tasks, and direct oversight of MR safety in Zone 3 or 4. The technologist ensures all patients are properly screened for MR safety before entering restricted zones and exemplifies ICARE values (Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Empathy). Coverage may be required at various HonorHealth locations, including participation in on-call duties as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Practice high-quality patient care, utilizing two patient identifiers and reviewing orders/history to ensure appropriate procedures.
  • Protocol procedures with radiologists as needed and coordinate approval for non-MR conditional implanted devices prior to imaging.
  • Assist anesthesiologists and RNs with patients undergoing general sedation for MRI exams.
  • Transport patients safely to/from exam rooms and assist with positioning using safe handling techniques.
  • Perform MRI procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and administer contrast materials as required.
  • Initiate emergency response for contrast reactions and review images for technical quality and protocol adherence.
  • Utilize EMR/RIS, PACS, and other image management systems.
  • Rotate throughout the department/hospital as staffing and volume dictate.
  • Participate in staff orientation, training, and in-servicing as needed.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily workflow, including contacting patients/offices to coordinate care.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment, including stock/inventory and equipment upkeep.
  • Perform and document required quality control testing and contact service for repairs/maintenance.
  • Ensure the work environment is free from MR safety hazards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Associate’s degree preferred).
  • 6 months of clinical experience via employment or training.
  • Current certification from one of the following prior to start date:
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
    • NMTCB
    • ARMRIT
    • ARDMS
    • U.S. military Radiology General Procedures training program
  • ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification within one year of hire.
  • Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
