MRI Medical Imaging Assistant

As a Medical Imaging Assistant, you'll be the vital connection between cutting-edge technology and compassionate patient care, preparing patients for their MRI experience, expertly starting IVs, and ensuring every person feels cared for and confident.

About the role

This position assists technologists and/or nurses by performing non-technical, patient and procedure-related duties, as well as a variety of clerical and administrative support functions. You'll float between Banner East Valley locations as needed, contributing to a team that values your organizational talents and warm bedside manner.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, medical staff, and the public; answer incoming telephone calls, schedule appointments, enter orders, and provide general information.
• Resolve customer problems or collect necessary data and follow through to appropriate person for resolution.
• Enter patient information into the computer, scan documents into PACS, and maintain complete patient records.
• Ensure all reports and chart forms are scanned or filed into the patient’s record and maintain an accurate filing system.
• Digitize, format, and upload film-based or digital images into PACS; fulfill requests for images and reports.
• Receive patients in applicable systems, confirm demographics and insurance information, and perform insurance verification.
• Calculate and collect copays, deductibles, and self-pay; total charges on patient’s super-bill at check-out.
• Coordinate patient appointments, discharges, and transportation as requested by patients or physicians.
• Print physician schedules, super-bills, labels, and other forms; pull and file patient charts.
• Reconcile charge tickets to each day's schedule and forward completed tickets to the business office or billing company.
• Assist technologists and nurses in pre and post procedure room preparation, including obtaining supplies and setting up sterile trays.
• Escort patients to exam rooms, take vitals and patient history, and assist with peripheral IV insertion, IV discontinuation, and Point of Care Testing (POCT) if required (after completing Banner’s required courses and validations).
• Maintain adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies; complete requisition forms and reconcile supply orders.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• BLS certification required.
• Ability to exercise good judgment, effectively communicate, and use discretion with patients, staff, and the public.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy, including commonly used office software and keyboarding skills.
• Strong organizational skills to prioritize and coordinate various responsibilities simultaneously.
• Ability to handle ongoing face-to-face contact with patients and staff in a busy medical office environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as a transporter, EMT, and/or nursing assistant.
• Previous experience working with electronic medical records and insurance.
• Knowledge of filing and/or retrieval systems.

Schedule

4-10 hour shifts per week, 6:30am – 5:00pm. Varied days Monday through Friday.
