Summary
This position will transition to a hybrid role once the employee is fully trained and receives management approval. Training will be completed on-site at our corporate office in Warwick, RI.
Principle Duties And Responsibilities
- Confirm and screen MRI and CT patients for all sites from current day to at least two days out.
- Inform patients of RIMI’s Medication Policy when necessary.
- Investigate any allergies, implants, and recent colonoscopy/endoscopy exams; call outside facilities to retrieve information.
- Scan in necessary paperwork and alert MRI technologists so that they can review MRI safety conditions.
- Periodically check the current day’s schedule for add-on patients.
- Call to obtain prior outside reports; scan/attach to the appropriate account(s) in RIS.
- Call to obtain referral slips for patients needing foreign body x-rays prior to MRI and schedule accordingly.
- Call to obtain exam referral slips if needed when reviewing the case.
- Check referral slips and inform the Lead MRI/CT Coordinator of any exams scheduled incorrectly.
- Aid with the training of new staff.
Basic Knowledge/Skills
- Interpersonal skills to interface effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress, referring physicians, staff, and fellow employees.
- Organizational and analytical skills to compile and interpret data.
- Ability to multi-task and complete all job duties in a timely manner for efficient patient care.
- Attention to detail and ability to act proactively with patients while on the phone.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to enter and update information into RIS as well as clerical methods and techniques.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills.
Education
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a School of Medical Secretarial Sciences program is a plus.
Experience
- Minimum one (1) year of experience as a medical secretary or scheduler, preferably in a radiology setting.
