About the role
EnerSys is a global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications, with over thirty manufacturing and assembly plants worldwide servicing over 10,000 customers in more than 100 countries. The Water Spider role is critical to replenishing materials at each production station, enabling production personnel to focus on value-added processes. This position ensures single-piece continuous flow and maintains Just-In-Time (JIT) operations.
Responsibilities
- Replenish materials used at each station to maintain uninterrupted production flow.
- Facilitate smooth workflow by addressing occasional tasks such as material/tool replenishment and managing shipping containers.
- Remove obstacles to continuous flow, ensuring the right materials and supplies are available at the right time and place.
- Maintain an overview of workflow and fill in where needed to sustain production efficiency.
- Follow a systematic route and timeline to manage tasks and maintain production line efficiency.
- Track hour-by-hour production metrics, account for any misses, and report production outcomes.
- Ensure L6 metrics are met; utilize the 5-Why process for troubleshooting if metrics are not achieved.
- Become proficient in line balancing and SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die) as a subject matter expert.
- Set up and maintain KanBan and Heijunka systems to optimize workflow.
- Introduce and manage a production wheel and changeover matrix for operational success.
- Obtain EOS (EnerSys Operating System) certifications, including white/yellow belt levels.
- Participate in and lead Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience at EnerSys.
- Preferred: 2 years of distribution or parts center experience.
- Certified to operate a forklift or ability to obtain certification.
- Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Outlook and Excel).
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability and willingness to lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.
- Ability and willingness to work in various areas of the production floor.
- Excellent time management skills to fulfill tasks and rounds of production stations.
- Strong communication skills to act as a liaison between management and line workers.

- Must be able to differentiate colors.
- Must be able to frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Must be able and willing to wear a respirator.
- Must be able and willing to work overtime, varying schedules, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Risk of electrical shock and exposure to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products; periodic blood tests are required to monitor lead levels.
- Works in a plant/warehouse environment with varying conditions.
