POSITION SUMMARY
The Advanced Mountain Bike Instructor & E-Bike Tour Guide is responsible for delivering safe, engaging, and professional experiences for guests while representing the resort in a positive and welcoming manner. This role requires strong guest service skills, the ability to build rapport with riders of all ages and abilities, and a commitment to creating memorable outdoor experiences.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Teach basic mountain bike progressions according to the guest's skill level.
- Have knowledge of the basic mountain bike fundamentals and be willing to improve knowledge.
- Attend training clinics as scheduled.
- Maintain navigation skills and local trail knowledge or the ability to obtain working knowledge.
- Have basic knowledge of mountain bike components and how they work.
- Have basic knowledge of electric pedal assist mountain bike components and how they work.
- Report to the lesson meeting area as scheduled and on time.
- Always adhere to all safety requirements and standards.
- Act as a positive, professional role model, adhering to the company’s hospitality standards.
- Maintain an exceptional level of guest service in all interaction with guests, fellow employees, and management.
- Preferred previous experience in outdoor education; trail guiding and bike tours.
- Time management with each group assigned.
- Knowledge of single and double track trail etiquette.
- Have basic first aid knowledge, training preferred.
- Ability to ride all trails at the green and blue level.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain an exceptional level of guest service in all interactions with guests, fellow employees, and other department managers.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Act as a positive, professional role model, adhering to the company’s hospitality standards.
- Have knowledge of the products and the offerings from the resort.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
- Highly developed customer service skills.
- Ability to comprehend, speak, read, and write English fluently.
- Ability to handle guest interactions, both positive and negative, in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
- Knowledge in leave no trace and guiding principles.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- BICP or PMBIA certification preferred.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Climbing stairs, walking, and locating guests outside when necessary.
- Ability to downhill mountain bike for up to 6 hours with intermittent breaks.
- A passing ride test held by the Bike School Manager.
