Motor Vehicle Mechanic Helper

Responsibilities

• Clean, inspect, and perform light maintenance on light duty motor vehicles.
• Assist in the pick-up and delivery of test vehicles.
• Drive specified routes to collect on-road data.
• Assist mechanics and engineers with garage and lab-related tasks as requested.
• Maintain vehicle service records and inventory of automotive parts, fluids, cleaning supplies, and equipment.

Requirements

• High school graduate.
• Minimum of 5 years of relative experience in an automotive industry-related business.
• Experience with inventory control, ordering materials, stocking, and storing automotive-related items.
• Experience with vehicle cleaning, oil changes, tire repair, and basic vehicle maintenance, repair, or restoration.
• Proficient in using personal computers and tablets, with experience in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to drive light-duty commercial trucks and manual transmission vehicles.
• Extensive customer service and support work experience.
• Experience in workplace safety programs.
• Well-organized individual who enjoys multitasking on a daily basis.
• Must have fewer than 4 points on driving record and no DUI, visibly impaired, or reckless driving charges in the past 5 years.
• Must pass a drug test and background check.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license.

Qualifications (Desirable)

• Vehicle knowledge or experience with driving test vehicles.
• CDL “A” License.
• Prior experience in vehicle or engine-related instrumentation installation.
• Experience with major vehicle repairs and a passion for working with motor vehicles.
• State of Michigan Auto Repair Certifications.

Pay

$23.96 per hour.
