About the role
Tessera is seeking a hardworking and motivated Motor Vehicle Mechanic with a positive attitude. Typical duties include but are not limited to performing preventive maintenance inspections, overhauls, and repairs on various types of vehicles and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections, overhauls, and repairs on automotive and engineering equipment including passenger-carrying vehicles, light and heavy trucks, trailers, Safeguards Transporter Trailer, Armored Tractors, Escort Vehicles, Support Vehicles, and other equipment.
- Diagnose the source of trouble and determine the extent of repairs required; replace worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grind and adjust valves; rebuild carburetors; overhaul transmissions; and repair fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.
- Use operator hoists, wrenches, gauges, cutting torches, grinding wheels, and other general or specialized machines, gauges, and tools.
- Ensure accurate and efficient replacement of parts and make repairs and/or adjustments to equipment.
- Maintain accurate records required during performance of job duties.
- Ensure that all parts used are properly charged and that exchanged items are turned in to the storeroom or properly disposed of.
- Responsible for safe operations and proper care of materials, tools, and equipment, and the maintenance of good housekeeping in the Vehicle Maintenance Facility.
- Ensure compliance to applicable Quality Assurance Programs.
- Participate in worker involvement including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls.
Qualifications
- CDL A preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Automotive Maintenance or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Must complete one ASE Certification per year until the title of Master Mechanic is achieved, once the title of Master Mechanic is obtained it must be maintained thereafter.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
- May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
- Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
- Able to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
Requirements
- A Valid State Driver’s license is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance company.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
