About the role

Under limited supervision, the Motion Automation Intelligence- Senior Engineering Technician performs engineering calculations and investigations and manages engineering projects. This role provides complex technical support to the applicable engineering program in estimating, designing, preparing technical drawings, and developing prototypes. The Senior Engineering Technician participates in the sales process, sales support, and special projects as needed and acts as a mentor to lower-level technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Design of electrical control panels, programming, and troubleshooting of OEM equipment, controls, and automation solutions.
  • Manage engineering projects, communicate requirements, establish timelines, and coordinate activities with customer requirements.
  • Provide technical writing and functional explanations of how components work and are integrated into industrial machinery.
  • Responsible for power distribution layout, design, and details.
  • Responsible for electrical design and detail, including wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Train plant personnel on proper usage and preventative maintenance of equipment and control systems.
  • Create Bill of Material and specify manufacturer part numbers.
  • Perform fieldwork, start-up, and engineering calculations.
  • Develop basic written functional job specifications if not provided by the customer.
  • Participate in joint sales calls with branch staff or directly at accounts to present capabilities, identify opportunities, review applications, and demonstrate products.
  • Provide commercial and technical sales/application support for inquiries from branch sales staff or customers.
  • Cover all aspects of engineering activities that ensure business objectives are met, including the creation, development, design, and improvement of products/equipment.
  • Ensure processes and environmental conditions comply with local and national regulatory agencies and the organization's safety standards.
  • Prepare reports, graphs, planning layouts, and summaries designed to communicate project progress or results.
  • Act as a mentor to lower-level technicians.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and seven (7) or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Works as a key member of cross-functional teams and must display a can-do attitude that sets an example for others.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possesses sufficient engineering and math skills to formulate ideas and create designs.
  • Must have an intermediate-level proficiency or greater in engineering symbols, standards, and documentation.
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Haz-Loc design experience preferred, but not required.

Physical Demands

Pay

Compensation is from $74,148.48 to $101,908.80 annually.
