About the Role

We are seeking MOT Skilled Laborers to join our Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. team. Reporting to direct field supervision, the MOT Driver is responsible for all project-related tasks, including carrying materials and heavy objects, setting up cones and signage, driving TMA trucks on sites and roadways, cleaning the job site, and assisting with maintenance of traffic. This position works alongside the entire Project Team to support the completion of assigned construction tasks and ensures all plans move forward to meet projected deadlines.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction. A DOT card or the ability to clear a DOT physical to obtain a DOT card is required. This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

Responsibilities

  • Carry, load, unload, and stack materials
  • Lay out material and assist experienced crew members
  • Dig with pick and shovel
  • Assist with maintenance of traffic, including setting out and picking up cones, assisting with lane closures, driving TMA/crash trucks, and flagging
  • Shovel, rake, spread, and vibrate concrete into place
  • Climb embankments and ladders to carry material to various work sites on the project as needed
  • Jackhammer and saw cut concrete
  • Clean up project site of debris

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred (can be replaced with relevant work experience)
  • 3+ years of construction experience; safety-oriented, maintenance of traffic experience highly preferred
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable Motor Vehicle records, and reliable transportation
  • DOT Card required; CDL A or B a plus, not required
  • Experience in Heavy Highway and/or bridge construction preferred
  • Familiarity with paving, concrete, highway, MOT, and/or bridge construction and all other highway construction scopes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds from ground level to waist level and 30 pounds to above shoulder level throughout a scheduled work shift
  • Continuous standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands
  • Must be able to climb ladders
  • Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, and crawl
  • Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot, and humid weather
  • Requires acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing
  • Ability to reach, lift, and perform work above shoulder height
  • Ability to work on uneven surfaces and in confined spaces
  • Must be able to clear a DOT Physical

Pay

$20.00/hr - $25.00/hr (based on experience and certifications)
