MOSDOH - Instructor Dental Hygienist MO
Duties & Responsibilities
- Participate in instruction and grading of non-surgical periodontal procedures.
- Participate in instruction and grading of clinical experiences, related to dental hygiene.
- Participate in faculty calibration meetings and professional development activates.
- Contribute to the clinical program as directed by the Assistant Dean, Clinical Affairs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Dental hygiene degree or associate degree in dental hygiene with Bachelor degree in a related field required.
- Possess knowledge of periodontal anatomy and physiology, parameters for periodontal surgical referral.
- Experience in designing and implementing NSPT Programs.
- Current Missouri Dental Hygiene licensure/Local Anesthesia Certification and Nitrous Analgesia Certification required or the ability to obtain a Missouri Dental Hygiene license and certification.
- Current AHA CPR BLS or equivalent training approved by MO Dental Board.
- Should have some experience in either the provision of dental hygiene or instruction of hygiene techniques.
- Experience in formal courses/programs in educational methodology.
- Understanding of evidence-based dentistry and dental hygiene.
- Experience with competency-based education.
- Team orientated, strong mentoring abilities, and personable.
- Able to remain calm and defuse situations.
- Attention to detail.

About the Role
The Instructor Dental Hygienist will directly supervise dental students who are performing non-surgical periodontal procedures. This position is involved in the direct supervision and instruction of dental students in the techniques of non-surgical periodontal procedures and provide clinical hygiene services with direct patient periodontal maintenance and prevention as needed. In addition, the Instructor Dental Hygienist will facilitate the clinical Quality Assurance program.
