Mortgage Production Specialist

About the role

The position involves supporting Mortgage Loan Originators in various aspects of residential mortgage processing and underwriting.

Responsibilities

• Aids MLO in loan documentation preparation and loan disclosures.
• Prepares new application packages and distributes them to customers.
• Reviews and counsels customers on mortgage programs, discussing terms and rates; locks loans/interest rates.
• Coordinates and communicates loan progress and needs among applicant, MLO, Processor, Underwriter, and external third party entities.
• Ensures all disclosures comply with federal and state laws, including initial and re-disclosures.
• Fulfills established policies and maintains compliance with lending regulations.
• Clears and submits conditions with Processor, Underwriter, and MLO.
• Coordinates closings with customer, MLO, Processor, Underwriter, and third parties as needed.
• Responds to mortgage-related telephone inquiries and promotes mortgage business development.
• Sends automated underwriting requests for LP/DU approval.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate's degree or higher preferred.
• At least one year of mortgage experience.
• NMLS registration required (company-sponsored).
• Discretion, tact, and diplomacy in interactions.
• Attention to detail, organizational skills, and multitasking abilities.
• Proficiency in word processing and written communication.
• Reading and interpreting loan documents, agency, investor, and regulatory agency requirements.
• Flexibility to assist at other locations as needed.
• Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.

Skills

• Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 10 pounds (accommodated if necessary).
• Knowledge of spreadsheet software.
