Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree required, emphasis in business finance preferred.
- NMLS required.
- 2-3 years of Mortgage Originator experience highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of accounting practices used to analyze client finances and evaluate how financial conditions influence available options.
- Knowledge of real estate market in local area.
- Proficiency with Encompass, Outlook, Word, Excel, typing, 10-key, and utilization of the internet is required.
- Commitment to demonstrating First Security's Core 5 values with customers and coworkers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Generate profitable, high-quality residential mortgage loans by building and maintaining strong personal relationships with community members and clients.
- Analyze applicants' financial status and credit history to identify appropriate loan products, clearly explaining the advantages and disadvantages of available financial options.
- Serve as a liaison between borrowers and lenders, ensuring customers receive regular progress updates and remain informed throughout the origination, processing, appraisal, underwriting, and closing stages, in accordance with guidelines for both government-insured and privately insured mortgages.
- Calculate and explain loan payment structures, including loan amounts, interest rates, term lengths, amortization periods, and payment frequencies.
- Protect all customer information and bank operations through strict confidentiality.
- Operate computer software and equipment, telephone, scanner, and copier, and develop proficiency with internal banking systems.
- Maintain a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, punctual attendance, and the ability to work on-site with occasional extended hours when necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Physical Demands
- Possess sufficient mobility to work in a standard office setting.

- Substantial time may be spent on the telephone, operating computers, reaching, sitting, and/or standing while occasionally stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- The employee must have the ability to speak and hear well enough to carry on customer interactions, conversations, and presentations both in person and over telecommunications.
- Have near/far visual acuity to identify customers, currency, and reading materials in printed or electronic formats.
- The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 10 pounds.
- Able to hold a valid driver's license with access to a vehicle that can be used for business travel purposes.
