Mortgage Loan Officer - Kalamazoo, MI

About the role

This position provides exceptional customer service to each client while developing and maintaining mortgage loan business through internal and external referral sources. The Mortgage Loan Officer builds and nurtures community relationships to grow the mortgage portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Develop and expand internal and external referral sources to grow mortgage business.
• Use consultative selling techniques to advise clients on mortgage loan options and other financial products.
• Provide excellent customer service from approval through closing, collaborating with loan origination sources to secure and verify all underwriting information.
• Maintain and strengthen client relationships.
• Advise customers on completing loan applications.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One or more years of mortgage loan origination experience, preferably at a bank.
• NMLS license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Existing pipeline and book of business.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Knowledge of mortgage loan products, including conventional, FHA/VA, construction lending, and portfolio programs.
• Familiarity with mortgage procedures, documentation, and underwriting guidelines.
• Demonstrated ability to identify cross-selling opportunities for financial products and services.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Proficiency in PC and internet skills.

Schedule

This is a non-exempt position eligible for overtime pay. Certain roles may qualify for a flexible work arrangement, combining in-office and remote work. Specific arrangements will be provided by the hiring team.
