About the role

This is a developing professional role that identifies policy and applies specialty knowledge in monitoring and assessing processes and data. The role integrates established disciplinary knowledge within the mortgage specialty with a basic understanding of related industry practices. You will develop a working knowledge of industry practices and standards, and must be able to exchange information concisely and logically while being sensitive to audience diversity. The impact of this role is primarily on your own team, with limited but direct influence on the business through the quality of tasks and services provided.

As a Home Lending Officer, you will represent Citi’s Retail Mortgage business, providing superior service to clients and referral partners while originating high-quality residential real estate loans. This highly interactive role involves collaboration with retail branch partners, operations, and community business development officers to drive mortgage sales and client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with customers about their financial situation, objectives, and lending needs to help them achieve home ownership goals.
  • Collect and analyze customer financial information, including income, assets, debts, cash flow, credit history, and risk tolerance.
  • Assess whether customers and properties may qualify for specific lending solutions.
  • Recommend lending solutions that align with customers' financial and personal objectives.
  • Advise customers on the consequences, risks, and benefits of alternative lending solutions.
  • Promote Citi’s brand and financial services to real estate agencies, builders, referral sources, and customers.
  • Conduct customer visits outside Citi’s offices, varying based on clientele, geography, and market conditions.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to support and grow customer relationships.
  • Refer customers seeking non-lending financial services to appropriate Citi professionals.
  • Partner with Operations teams to ensure seamless loan application transfers, document provision, and acquisition of additional information needed by Processors and Underwriters.
  • Work with Processors, Closers, and customers to ensure timely loan closings.
  • Engage with key referral relationships (Realtors, CPAs, Builders, etc.) to drive mortgage business.
  • Introduce clients to segment partners (Bank, Wealth Management, Small Business, Cards, etc.) when appropriate.
  • Stay abreast of local market trends, industry regulations, and expand your internal and external network.
  • Assess risk in business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws, rules, and regulations while safeguarding Citi’s reputation and assets.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of previous mortgage sales experience required.
  • Residential mortgage experience required.
  • Established book of business.
  • Proven product sales capability.
  • FHA/VA and conventional loan experience preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend and explain financial calculations and pricing alternatives.
  • Ability to communicate with customers about required documents and information for loan applications.
  • Knowledge of consumer lending laws and regulations, including fair lending, privacy, and RESPA.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Strong relationship development and management skills.
  • Expertise in general lending products and the overall mortgage industry.
  • Must register as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) and obtain a unique identifier before engaging in mortgage loan originator activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Pay

Full-time salary range: $60,000.00 - $175,000.00. In addition to salary, eligible employees may receive discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
