About the role

Citi Bank Retail Mortgage provides home lending services via Citibank branches and centralized service centers. The Home Lending Officer represents the Retail Mortgage business, delivering superior service to clients and referral partners while originating high-quality residential real estate loans. This highly interactive role engages internally with retail branch partners, operations, and community business development officers. The position drives mortgage sales and client relationships through engagement with clients, real estate agents, and other referrers.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with customers about their financial situation, objectives, and lending needs to help them achieve home ownership goals.
  • Collect and analyze customer financial information, including income, assets, debts, cash flow, credit history, and risk tolerance.
  • Assess whether customers and properties may qualify for specific lending solutions.
  • Recommend lending solutions that align with customers' financial and personal objectives.
  • Advise customers on the consequences, risks, and benefits of alternative lending solutions.
  • Promote Citi’s brand and financial services to real estate agencies, builders, referral sources, and customers.
  • Visit customers outside Citi’s offices, with frequency varying by clientele, geography, and market conditions.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to support and grow the customer base.
  • Refer customers seeking non-lending financial services to appropriate Citi professionals.
  • Partner with Operations teams to ensure seamless loan application processing and document acquisition.
  • Work with Processors/Closers and customers to ensure timely loan closings.
  • Engage with key referral relationships (Realtors, CPAs, Builders, etc.) to drive mortgage business.
  • Introduce clients to segment partners (e.g., Bank, Wealth Management, Small Business, Cards) when appropriate.
  • Stay abreast of local marketplace trends, industry regulations, and expand internal/external networks.
  • Assess risk in business decisions, prioritizing Citi’s reputation and compliance with laws, rules, and ethical standards.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of previous mortgage sales experience required.
  • Residential mortgage experience required.
  • Established book of business.
  • Proven product sales capability.
  • FHA/VA and conventional loan experience preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend and explain financial calculations and pricing alternatives.
  • Communicate with customers about required loan documents and information.
  • Knowledge of consumer lending laws and regulations, including fair lending, privacy, and RESPA.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Strong relationship development and management skills.
  • Expertise in general lending products and the overall mortgage industry.
  • Must register as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) and obtain a unique identifier before engaging in mortgage loan originator activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Pay

Full-time salary range: $60,000.00 – $175,000.00. In addition to salary, eligible employees may receive discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
