About the role

FAR Inspections is seeking independent contractors to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Contractors earn predictable full-time or supplemental income and have a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
• Report general property conditions and make a determination of occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in an app.
• Be able to spend extended periods of time driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.

Requirements

• Computer with an internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.

Pay and Hours

• This is a 1099 position.
• Each inspection has a flat rate, which varies based on county and volume.
• You will earn the equivalent of $20-$30 per hour.
• The number of inspections per month can range from 20-500, depending on the county and volume.
• The work is consistent month-to-month.

What is an Occupancy Verification?

Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send out independent contractors to do this. The purpose of the property inspection is:

• To verify property occupancy.
• To report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
• Most inspections are exterior only.
• About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
• We contract with inspectors at a county level, meaning you will be responsible to complete all inspections in your county.
• In some cases, you will split the county with another inspector if there is enough volume for two inspectors.
