About the role

Ameris Bank is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to join our team. This role involves engaging with potential and existing customers to develop new business and retain existing business, establish and maintain relationships with realtors, builders, developers, and other referral sources, and assist customers with loan applications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an active NMLS number in compliance with federal S.A.F.E Act requirements.
  • Contact potential or existing customers to develop new business or retain existing business.
  • Counsel customers on available mortgage products and ensure they choose the best fit for their financial needs.
  • Absorb and submit loan applications within required timelines and assist in collecting additional documents.
  • Maintain loan status and ensure conformity with terms.
  • Communicate with loan processors regarding workflow and file status.
  • Network through industry functions and promote mortgage products.
  • Attend purchase loan closing transactions on behalf of Ameris Bank Mortgage.
  • Update branch managers on sales call efforts and meet regularly with loan processors to review pipeline reports.
  • Support cross-selling opportunities and other initiatives with branch managers and other sales personnel.
  • Stay informed on all Ameris Bank Mortgage loan programs and comply with regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Meet and exceed minimum production standards as detailed in the compensation agreement.
  • Attend all required meetings and complete all required training.
  • Adhere to work schedule as designated by manager.
  • Practice ethical sales behaviors in accordance with Ameris' core values of Integrity and Honesty.

Requirements

  • Experience using mortgage origination applications.
  • Effective utilization of a contact management system.
  • Knowledge of mortgage products/servicing, operations, and current market trends.
  • Proven mortgage production of $5 million over the past year.
  • Proven success in establishing referral relationships.
  • Minimum 1 year of Mortgage experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of Customer Service experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and referral sources.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
