About the role
Dayton 24/7 (WKEF) is seeking a dynamic, high-impact Morning News Anchor to lead their five-hour live morning broadcasts. This is not a “read-the-news” position—it is a leadership role inside a forward-thinking newsroom where anchors are central to editorial decision-making, storytelling innovation, and audience connection.
Responsibilities
- Anchoring newscasts with confidence, clarity, and credibility
- Actively participating in daily editorial meetings, helping shape rundowns and coverage strategy
- Producing and contributing original content across broadcast, digital, and social platforms
- Writing in a clear, conversational, audience-focused style
- Delivering compelling live coverage in breaking news and major event situations
- Building strong connections with viewers through consistent social media engagement
- Collaborating closely with producers, reporters, and digital teams to elevate storytelling
- Mentoring and supporting MMJs and producers as part of a team-first newsroom culture
- Representing the station in the community through events, initiatives, and public engagement
Requirements
At WKEF, anchors are expected to:
- Show confidence, clarity, and credibility in anchoring newscasts
- Participate actively in daily editorial meetings

Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates should:
- Have a minimum of 5 years of professional news anchor experience
- Be proficient in delivering live news coverage and managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Have excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse audiences
- Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations calmly
- Have a strong understanding of storytelling techniques and the ability to produce engaging content
- Be familiar with digital and social media platforms and their integration into news coverage
- Have a passion for journalism and a commitment to excellence in reporting

Pay
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
The ideal candidate will be available to work a flexible schedule that includes evening and weekend shifts, including weekends and holidays.
