Morning Meteorologist

About the role

KREX-TV seeks an experienced on-air Morning Meteorologist/Weather Presenter in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Responsibilities

• Produce content for television, digital and social platforms
• Demonstrate clear, engaging, and meaningful presentation skills
• Utilize social media to engage viewers and users with weather content
• Write web stories detailing the local forecast daily
• Affirm weather content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
• Assist in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating weather programming and other content
• Respond to breaking and/or severe weather events and other urgent newsroom situations as required
• Participate in promotional activities including public appearances
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in meteorology or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to ad lib when required
• Proficiency with weather computer systems
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong understanding of the field of meteorology and a proven track record of forecasting
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Flexibility to work any shift

Pay

$36,000.00 annually or commensurate with experience

Full-time, Monday – Friday
