About the Role

As a Customer Service Representative, you'll be responsible for providing a well-stocked and well-maintained department while delivering superior customer service. This role involves stocking and rotating products, maintaining department standards, and ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Stock and rotate items as needed, ensuring product freshness and quality.
  • Assist with inventory control, including loading, unloading, and moving product.
  • Organize, clean, and prepare the back area for the night crew and incoming trucks.
  • Arrange merchandise on pallets to present the department attractively to the public.
  • Maintain the integrity of shelf tags and signage; create or prepare signage as needed.
  • Check shipments for out-of-date or damaged products to ensure quality.
  • Build, stock, maintain, and dismantle store displays.
  • Provide superior customer service, answer questions, and assist customers with selections.
  • Help customers locate store merchandise.
  • Merchandise products effectively and use suggestive selling techniques to boost sales.
  • Clean and sanitize sales floors, display cases, prep areas, and equipment.
  • Properly handle and maintain the operation of all equipment.
  • Comply with departmental SOPs and store operating procedures.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Beauty: Knowledge of beauty and cosmetic aids.
  • Drugstore / General Merchandise: Prepare tags and signs as needed.
  • Grocery: Organize, clean, and prepare the back area for the night crew and incoming trucks; prepare tags and signs as needed.
  • Texas Backyard: Passion for the outdoors; ability to complete Green Thumb training (H-E-B internal training).
  • Entertainment: Knowledge of audio/video fields, specialty products, movies, music, electronics, and video games.

Duties and responsibilities may be modified at any time based on business needs. Employees may be required to perform other job-related tasks as requested by their supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
  • Completion of company orientation and safety training upon hire.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Reading, writing, planning, and organizing skills.

    • Occasionally: Sit, reach overhead/floor, bend, squat, crouch, kneel, climb stairs/ladders, twist.
    • Occasional exposure to cold, loud noise, and wet conditions.
    • Ability to lift 55 lbs and manage in excess of 65 lbs.
  • Grocery:
    • Constantly: Reach at waist, pivot, grasp.
    • Frequently: Stand, walk, reach at shoulder/knee, stoop, push/pull with arms, pinch, perform fine motor movements, ulnar/radial deviation, extend/flex wrists; exposure to cold conditions.

    • Occasional exposure to loud noise and wet conditions.
    • Ability to lift 65 lbs and manage in excess of 135 lbs.
  • Texas Backyard:

    • Occasionally: Bend, crawl, climb stairs, twist, push/pull with arms, perform fine motor movements.
    • Occasional exposure to cold, loud noise, and wet conditions.
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs and manage in excess of 50 lbs.

Frequency definitions: Constantly = 5.5+ hours per 8-hour day; Frequently = 2.5–5.5 hours; Occasionally = 0–2.5 hours.

Partners must never lift beyond their safe limit. If an item is too heavy, break it down or ask for assistance.
