Montessori Instructional Coach, Alpha - $150,000/year USD

About the role

Consider how purposeful play can drive quantifiable gains in child development. Alpha's approach to education departs from conventional models. Our PreK program integrates play-driven curriculum with live developmental tracking — no scripted lessons, no checkbox compliance. You will create adaptive learning experiences spanning all readiness domains, support a team of Guides in executing them with both rigor and warmth, and monitor measurable milestone achievement for each child in your cohort. This role is leadership in practice.

Approximately one-third of your time will be classroom-based — demonstrating facilitation techniques, observing instruction, and conducting calibration reviews. The remainder involves curriculum design, coaching Guides toward concrete, measurable outcomes, and providing families with data-informed progress reports. The results will be tangible: four-year-olds reaching developmental milestones ahead of schedule, Guides raising their quality metrics each week, and parents championing the program.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Conduct one-on-one and small-group coaching for PreK Guides, demonstrating techniques and recognizing measurable progress
  • Create and lead play-based learning experiences that integrate SEL, literacy, numeracy, and motor development, exemplifying excellence for the team
  • Examine and calibrate Guide documentation each week for rubric consistency and clarity, facilitating calibration meetings to maintain visibility into milestone tracking
  • Develop family communications and convene team meetings that synchronize priorities and uphold collective standards for campus-wide PreK readiness targets

What You Won't Be Doing

  • Adhering to inflexible lesson plans or compliance checklists — you will build adaptive, play-based frameworks informed by live data
  • Delivering a predetermined curriculum from leadership — you are responsible for quarterly and weekly learning architecture
  • Operating without structured feedback — coaching dialogues and calibration reviews are embedded in your weekly routine
  • Supporting K-12 learners on digital platforms — this position is entirely focused on early childhood, in-person, classroom-based work

Key Responsibilities

Lead campus-wide PreK readiness results by coaching Guides, ensuring program consistency, and cultivating classrooms that are both joyful and data-informed.

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, or related discipline; Master's degree or specialized certification preferred
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in early childhood education, child development, or a closely related area
  • Direct experience facilitating group activities with young children aged 3 to 5
  • Demonstrated capability in designing and executing play-based programs or curricula that promote developmental milestone achievement, such as Montessori
  • A minimum of 1 year coaching or supervising a team of educators with accountability for performance outcomes
  • Background in composing written family updates and facilitating team coordination meetings within an educational context
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
  • Commitment to on-site work at Alpha's Austin campus, with relocation support offered as needed

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Knowledge of edtech systems, adaptive dashboards, or digital observation instruments applied in early childhood environments
  • Practical experience with behavior guidance methods and co-regulation approaches for children ages 3-5
