About the role

Day Porters are responsible for performing all-purpose cleaning and preservation of an assigned area, which could be a building, apartments, hospital, warehouse, shopping mall, or other facility. Tasks are flexible and may vary as assigned by a Supervisor and/or Customer.

Responsibilities

• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies
• Use a step ladder to replace light bulbs
• Perform painting and patch work if necessary
• Replace batteries on smoke detectors
• Inspect the building, grounds, and equipment
• Handle necessary repairs and maintenance
• Install equipment and appliances
• Comply with all company safety regulations
• Keep a maintenance log and write shift reports
• Report any issues to the maintenance manager or clients
• Respond to repair and maintenance requests in a timely fashion
• Load and unload equipment and tools into work vehicles if needed
• Follow written and verbal instructions from the maintenance manager or clients
• Collaborate with the maintenance team and contractors as needed
• Read and follow manuals, blueprints, and other written instructions
• Use equipment, including power tools, hand tools, electric tools, and plumbing tools

Requirements

• Able to work well with all levels of employees and managers
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area
• Ability to perform job with minimal supervision
• Regular and timely attendance
• High School Education or equivalent
• Previous experience in a similar capacity and environment
• Must be able to speak English

Physical Demands

• Stooping, standing, climbing, and frequent lifting and/or moving a minimum of 50 lbs
• Repetitive movements: sitting, walking, standing, bending (neck and waist), squatting, climbing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, twisting (neck and waist), and talking or hearing
• Repetitive use of hands for simple grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, pulling, and reaching
• Keyboarding with both hands
• Lifting and carrying objects from floor, table, and shelves overhead or over distances
• Working around equipment and machinery
• Walking on uneven ground
• Exposure to noise, dust, gas, fumes, cleaning products, and biohazards (e.g., bloodborne pathogens, sewage, hospital waste)
• Working at heights
• Must be able to lift and stack objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and frequently exert 10 to 20 pounds of force
• Indoor/outdoor work environment with exposure to varying conditions
