Duties/Responsibilities
- Carry out psychiatric evaluations and assessments to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Manage medications, including evaluating their effectiveness and side effects, and adjust dosages as needed.
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and diagnosis codes.
- Collaborate with other mental health professionals such as therapists, psychologists, and social workers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Attend treatment team meetings to discuss patient progress and coordinate care.
- Participate in ongoing training and continuing education to stay updated on the latest practices and research in psychiatry.
Requirements
- Completion of a residency training program in psychiatry and at least two years of post-residency experience as a psychiatrist in a psychiatric facility.
- An M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
- Licensure as a physician in the applicable state, including being able to prescribe controlled substances.
- A valid state driver’s license may be required.

- Knowledge of general medicine and psychiatry, as well as current developments in the field.
- Experience in hospital and clinic settings, including organizational, management, and procedural knowledge.
- Ability to diagnose and treat severely and persistently mentally ill patients.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Objectivity and confidentiality in handling patient information.
